DSAT Gas Blender Instructor

Filling diving cylinders with other breathing gases than air mostly requires you to manipulate high percentages of pure oxygen. Such procedures come with an increased risk of (carbon monoxide) contamination in the cylinder and in extreme cases a risk of fire and explosion. It speaks for itself that people who fill cylinders with other gases than air need to be trained to do so. The DSAT Gas Blender Instructor course prepares you not only to fill cylinders yourself, but also to teach the needed procedures to others.

In order to really understand all aspects of the course, you must have a thorough understanding of the functioning of compressors. If you do not yet have that knowledge, we recommend you to combine this course with the Compressor Handling Instructor Course. With the combination of these two courses, you are prepared for all filling procedures – air and other breathing gases.

Equipment used with high oxygen content must be prepared for that purpose. The DSAT Gas Blender Course combines filling procedures with the procedures to prepare equipment for use with oxygen. About half of the course introduces you to the use of partial pressure blending, membrane installations and continues flow blending, while the other half of the course handles the preparation and cleaning of the equipment that is going to be used with high oxygen partial pressures.

Most should be able to complete the course in one day (including the final exam). If you opt to combine the compressor course with the blender course, you are looking at a three day program. Course participants are required to have the DSAT Gas Blender Manual.

The College can offer complete flexibility for the scheduling of your course. You can opt for half or full days, do several days of training without taking a break or take your course one day at a time.
