The EFRI (Emergency First Response Instructor) course is required for all who want to become a PADI Instructor (unless you are already first aid instructor for another organization). Starting at the level of Rescue Diver, divers are required to be certified in first aid and CPR. It is convenient for your students if they can complete all required training with you – the diving and the first aid – which is the reason why all scuba instructors are required to have this certification.
Instructors should be able to complete the training in one day. Those who are not yet (Assistant) Instructors need a day more. As they did not yet training on teaching techniques, that aspect needs to be covered as well. Training includes an overview of all the skill to be thought in a first aid course, including the use of a defibrillator which is an option in consumer courses. You will also be introduced in the philosophy behind the program and will pass an exam in which you prove that you understood the information contained in the course.
Candidates are required to have the Emergency First Response Instructor Kit. This kit also contains a self-study segment which you can complete before or during the course. Certification allows you to teach various EFR courses, including the use of defibrillators, first aid for adults and first aid for children.
The College can offer complete flexibility for the scheduling of your course. You can opt for half or full days, do several days of training without taking a break or take your course one day at a time. Learning is a personal experience and you should opt for a schedule that fits your needs. The current prices for our courses and services are found in the latest version of our brochure.
