Instructor for handicapped divers

If you want to expand your services to cater for physically challenged divers, the handicapped program is suited for your needs. The program introduces you to the techniques needed to enjoy diving with a variation of challenges. Part of the training will involve you in the role of a handicapped diver. Only when you experience yourself the problems divers with a physical challenge are confronted with, you can aid them in an efficient manner to overcome those challenges.

The course also includes a segment in which you teach other divers and divemasters the same techniques you have learned in your course. Once you start training physically challenged divers, you also need to provide support for dives made after training is completed. For that reason you provide a specialty course to the divers and dive guides who go diving with certified handicapped divers.

At the end of your training you will receive two specialty ratings – one for divers who are trained to dive with physically challenged divers and one for dive guides for the same purpose. For the physically challenged divers themselves, you do not need an additional certification, as they are certified under the same standards as all divers.

The course will take 2 days. As part of your training you will receive an instructor guide and a PowerPoint presentation on CD-Rom (at no additional charge).

The College can offer complete flexibility for the scheduling of your course. You can opt for half or full days, do several days of training without taking a break or take your course one day at a time.
