In the College we use the Azimuth rebreather. The Azimuth Rebreather Instructor course is an IT College distinctive specialty. The Azimuth is a semi-closed rebreather with several added features compared to other units of this type. Your training starts with general theory that applies to all makes of rebreathers and then moves on to specific information for the rebreather you are using in the course.
The practical part of the course starts in the pool. Before going into open water, you must master the same skills with a rebreather as Open Water Divers do with an open system. Once this level is achieved, you participate in the open water dives of the course.
To complete your training you should plan two and a half days. Just as the divers you train, you have to pass a theory exam as well as fulfill all performance requirements for the practical part of the course (both in the pool and in the open water).
Once you are certified as an instructor for one rebreather, the requirements to qualify yourself on other equipment are reduced. You have to complete the specific training for other units, but the general part of the course and the required diving experience can be applied to your training on other units.
Before participating in a rebreather course, you are required to be certified as a Nitrox Instructor. Your training does include open water dives, but your instructor rating will require additional dives – when you have completed a total of 20 rebrether dives, your instructor rating can be processed.
The College can offer complete flexibility for the scheduling of your course. You can opt for half or full days, do several days of training without taking a break or take your course one day at a time. Learning is a personal experience and you should opt for a schedule that fits your needs. The current prices for our courses and services are found in the latest version of our brochure.
